Meet Jessica

Hey there, I’m Jessica, I have been a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner for the past 6 years empowering women navigating hormonal imbalances.

Having started going through perimenopause myself at the age of 38, I intimately understand the challenges that arise in perimenopause such as anxiety, fatigue and weight gain, just to name a few. Knowing the importance of nourishment and lifestyle adjustment to support this transition I’ve been on a mission to guide women through this transformative phase, replenishing depleted nutrients and minerals while fostering holistic well-being to thrive through perimenopause and beyond.

That’s why I created my 1:1 program Building Resilience In Perimenopause to help you navigate the changes that are happening, alleviate symptoms through nutrition and lifestyle changes.

My story

I know firsthand how being under nourished can impact your health, hormones and how you feel day to day.

I was in my early 30’s exercising, growing my own food, eating healthy, doing all the right things. Or, so I thought, essentially I was over exercising, under nourishing my body on top of my busy lifestyle and life’s stressors. I was exhausted, didn’t sleep well, had crazy mood swings, was irritable, pain in my body that wouldn’t go away and had terrible PMS. After going to multiple doctors with no real answers and a bunch of different diagnoses they put me on all kinds of medication.

I knew there was a root cause to it all and I didn’t want a band aide approach. So I starting doing my own research, changed my diet and lifestyle went to a functional medicine doctor. I did start to feel better over time but my blood and hair tissue mineral analysis continued to come back with low mineral and vitamin levels. It wasn’t until I went back to school to become a Functional Nutritional Therapist Practicer and learned about the foundations of the body and how they must be supported for everything else to function normally. That’s when I discovered because of the stress I had been under for years, depleted many minerals and nutrients causing a cascade affect on my body. Affecting my ability to produce enough stomach acid and digestive juices to brake down my food to get the nutrients out of the food I was eating, that undigested became food for bad bacteria to grow disrupting my gut microbiome. Exhausting my adrenal glands and causing HPA Axis Dysregulation. In simple terms complete burnout. These things caused my hormones to become out of balance.

Because of the stress and undernourishment my body was in for so long lead to perimenopause starting in my late 30’s…

“This journey has inspired and empowered me to follow my passion.  I have always thought of food as medicine and wanted to help other women change their life with it.”

My mission

This journey has inspired and empowered me to follow my passion. I have always thought of food as medicine and wanted to help other women change their life with it. I believe in order to help others take charge of their health we need to empower them with the necessary tools so they can banish symptoms and feel their best instead of suffering through the perimenopause transition

There needs to be a multifaceted approach. Not only do we need to address nutrition, lifestyle changes and targeted supplementation but support the foundations of the body. These all work together to bring the body back into balance. The principles of bio-individuality is something I practice with my clients in my 1:1 Building Resilience Through Perimenopause Program.
